Of oval section, the outer cover incorporating the cord runners
The outer cover, top and base of the inner inrō decorated in takamaki-e in varying tones of gold, with a continuous herd of horses in relief, evoking the classical hyakuma-zu theme (one hundred horses)
The inner inrō decorated in maki-e with a continuous lakeside landscape across both sides
Near the rim, the shōchikubai motif (pine, bamboo and prunus in blossom)
The interiors in kinji gold lacquer
The base signed 常川作 in gold (made by Jōsen / Tsunekawa / 常川)
Accompanied by an ivory katabori netsuke depicting Daikoku, with an engraved signature on the reverse (probable reading 宗林, Sōrin)

日本江户时代,十八/十九世纪,常川作五段印笼连外套(鞘印笼)。椭圆形,外套以高莳绘金彩表现群马奔腾,呼应经典「百马图」题材;内印笼莳绘连续湖畔山水,缘饰松竹梅,内里施金地。底署「常川作」金款。附象牙雕大黑天根付,背刻铭(疑为宗林)。
