Description

Kangxi period (1662-1722), Qing dynasty.
An important gourd vase, painted in rich undergalze cobalt-blue tones, at the center with four lotus shaped reserves with profuse decoration of peonies and lotus-flower, the Flower Queen, the Spring, abundance and luck symbols.
Similar decoration to the neck. Four reserves with archaic vases and flower bouquets. Tiny chip and minor hairline.

Additional Information

Kangxi vases with this dimension and
decoration are extremely rare. A similar vase
is registered in the collection of Augustus Le
Fort in 1721, illustrated in The monumental
Vessels, originaly 151 pieces, come from the
copious porcelain collections of the palaces of
Oranienburg and Charlottemburg.
