Description

Qing dynasty, Kangxi Period c. 1690.
Cobalt-blue underglazed profuse decoration depicting peonies, leaves and other vegetal windings.
Bulbous body and rounded bottleneck.
Marked at the base with blue leaf inside the double circle.
Tiny chip to the cover rim.
Height: 63cm

Additional Information

This vase is part of the cargo of the Vung Tão Do ship that
shank circa 1690 near the Vietnamese coast, while sailing between
China and Jacarta.
Provenance: Acquired at Christies Amsterdam in 1992.
