Description

Carved, polychrome and gilt wood sculpture, depicting the Virgin in a frontal pose, with her head slightly tilted and wavy hair falling over her shoulders, resting on a base with a partially legible front inscription, where "... da purificação" can be distinguished. She wears a reddish tunic and an ample blue mantle, with traces of gilding and floral decoration. The hands are raised before the chest in a gesture of devotional recollection. Portugal, 17th century. (losses and defects)
