Description

Carved, polychrome and parcel-gilt wood sculpture depicting Saint Anthony, standing, wearing a Franciscan habit girded at the waist with a three-knotted cord and hood fallen over the shoulders. In his left hand he holds an open book, on which rests the figure of the Christ Child, with one arm raised towards the saint's face and the other holding the sovereign orb.
Iberian work, probably Portuguese, 17th–18th century
