Additional Information

Note:

The theme of roosters with hens and chicks harks back to the celebrated doucai cups of the Chenghua period (1465-1487) and conveys a rich auspicious programme: the rooster (ji) is homophonous with "auspicious" and its crest (guan) evokes the mandarin's office, while the hen with her chicks alludes to family harmony and the continuity of the lineage. Within, the bat and peaches combine the wishes for happiness (fu) and longevity (shou).
