Additional Information
Founded in Paris around 1776 by André-Marie Lebœuf, the Rue Thiroux manufactory operated under the direct patronage of Queen Marie Antoinette. This protection granted the factory the rare privilege of using the Queen’s initial (“A” beneath a crown), making its pieces highly sought after by collectors. The decoration of this service, with its semis of roses pattern, reflects the Queen’s personal taste and the late Neoclassical style, rivaling the quality of production at the royal Sèvres manufactory.
