This object was based on a Cornelis Port's print, dated 1568, engraved from the painting "The Birth of The Virgin Mary".
In the background Saint Anne's laying in a four poster bed. In the foreground a new-born child (The Virgin Mary) being bathed by four women and three putti that assist in the task. In the present work only two putti were represented.
