wealthy family linked to the shipping business.<br \/>\nAccording David Howard and John Ayers this arms are those depicted in Pietro Marini Ex-Libris, who lived in the mid-18th century and was a notable member of the family.<br \/>\nThese authors argue that, although some Portuguese crests depicts relief or banded bulls there's no news of a crest depicting the two characteristics simultaneously, for that they consider impossible to attribute the services to a Portuguese family.<br \/>\nDenying this theory Nuno de Castro refers a pillory at Atouguia da Baleia where the Ata\u00edde arms are depicted alongside a bull, further arguing that a service of this dimension may well served direct family of D.
