\r\nThe composition, with the eagle in the foreground perched upon angular rocks, an overhanging pine and a waterfall in the background, follows closely the models of the Kan\u014d school, which codified this type of bird-of-prey scene (taka-e) after Chinese Ming prototypes, notably those of Lin Liang.
