Pocket watch. Exact same model and reference of the pocket watch used by Mahatma Ghandi. Winding mechanical movement with alarm function. Enamel dial with arabic numerals and without hairline cracks. Silver case (800/000) with double case back and with the ref. nº 82625. In good condition. Withiout radium on hands and index's.

This Zenith watch (same reference) was a gift offered by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to Mahatma Ghandi,and was used by him between 1947 and 1964. It was one of the few possessions that Ghandi kept throughout his life and which accompanied him in his day-to-day life. Ghandi's diary of May 28, 1947 even describes a situation in which his watch was stolen on a train journey to Kanpur, and also its return by the thief himself, when he discovered who the watch belonged to.
