Viscount of Faria was a public figure at his time.
This is the only movement figure with a toothpick holder function. Bordallo Pinheiro considered the Viscount de a haughty figure with many quirks, a fact that was clearly evident in this creative piece.
The Viscount was a tall, elegant man and Bordalo Pinheiro portrayed him as a short, fat figure.
To adorn the piece, Bordallo Pinheiro also decided to place holes around the entire image, so that it could serve as a toothpick holder and thus look like a peacock.
