Additional Information
A display jewellery piece after the automaton clock by Hans Jakobe I. BachMannr (1574-1651) in the collections of Rudolph II, now at Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum (Tischautomat mit Diana auf dem Kentauren, Hans Jakob I. Bachmann, 1602-1606, inv. Kunstkammer, 1166).
Another well-known example, commissioned in 1610 by Elector Christian II of Saxe, following from his visit to the Imperial Cabinet at Dresden Castle, is kept at the renowned Green Vault (Figurenautomat mit Diana auf einem Kentauren, Bachmann, Hans Jakob, Grünes Gewölbe inv.IV 150).
Both the technical quality as well as the piece's hallmarks, are analogous to those known from the large workshops at the city of Hanau, which, in the 19th century specialised in replicating Renaissance, as well as 17th century artworks, that can now be found in the most famous private and public collections worldwide.
