In mahogany
Comprising seven rectangular steps supported by turned baluster uprights, joined by scrolling S-shaped stretchers
The handrail, also turned and carved at the ends, is upheld by a straight balustrade running along both sides and rising to a small semicircular platform
The X-shaped base rests on original brass castors; at the front, it extends into carved lion paw feet, while the rear corners are decorated with carved acanthus leaves.
The lower stretcher bears the stamp G. IACOB ◆ JME, identifying the work of Georges-Alphonse Jacob-Desmalter
