This work belongs to the portfolio Portraits imaginaires, produced by Pablo Picasso in 1969. The portfolio comprises twenty-nine lithographs based on the artist’s original paintings and resulted from a collaboration with the lithographer Marcel Salinas. The edition was executed under Picasso’s direct supervision, with each proof individually approved (bon à tirer). Each impression is hand-numbered and bears the artist’s signature within the plate.
The total edition consists of 500 impressions, divided between a French edition of 250 impressions, numbered with the prefix “F”, and an international edition, including an American edition of 250 impressions designated with the letter “A”.
On the reverse of the print, with instructions for the execution of the frame: “Dr. Fernando Pernes. Moulding no. 18. With special glass.”
