After Étienne-Maurice FALCONNET.
Patinated plaster sculpture depicting the mythological figures of Leda and Zeus (or Jupiter), king of Gods, transformed into a swan for seducing Leda. 1764 model.
This sculpture by FALBONNET was inspired by the painting by François BOUCHER, "Le cygne s'approche de Léda et de sa suivante sortant du bain" (Museum Jean de la Fontaine, Chateau-Thierry). It was probably conceived as a model for a monumental sculpture or to be transferred into porcelain.
