Additional Information

The composition of this painting closely resembles the portrait of the Geelvinck children, signed by Arnold Boonen in 1716 and sold at Sotheby’s (New York, 22 May 2023). Both works feature figures leaning on a stone ledge beneath a masonry arch, with a landscape in the background and an oriental carpet laid across the parapet. The young girl in the present painting recalls the leftmost figure in the Sotheby’s portrait, wearing the same blue satin mantle. These similarities support the attribution of the present work to the hand of Arnold Boonen.
