Description

A Japanese bronze sculpture of an elephant. Meiji Period, c. 1900. The realistic cast figure is represented with detailed work to the skin (flaccid and filled with fine wrinkles), and walking with the head slightly turned to the right, carrying a red and black lacquered wood platform.
On carved wood stand.
Platform prop missing.
