Additional Information

Carolina Pimenta is a young photographer who, after studying
Design and Visual Communication at the Leeds College of Art in the
UK, decided to travel and photograph the world in search of new
perspectives of reality.
The images here presented were taken in the Bahamas. Impressed by
the encounter with the depicted male figure in whom she recognized
features similar to Poseidon’s — the mythological god of the seas,
represented as the strong elder with a beard —, she asked him if she
could photograph him in the process of interpreting the strength of the
sea and the sand. The six photographs encapsulate the dynamism of his
movements and the expression of his body.
The work of Carolina Pimenta has been recently presented in group
shows ‘[Gone] Project: Mexico’, Palácio das Artes, Porto (2015); and
‘Party on The Plaza’, Coral Gables Museum, Coral Gables, Florida (2014).
