Oval shaped body of pierced decoration with columns with gilt silver liners and beaded friezes to base and top
Plain cartouche crowned by bow and ribbons
Volute handles of decreasing beading frieze
Sphere lid pommel
On 4 flattened ball feet
Paris assay marks for 1783, same date charge marks and important maker's mark for "Ambroise-Nicolas Cousinet" master in 1745
(signs of wear, minor dents)

Additional Information

This French master silversmith is the author of an important set of gilt silver table decoration sculptures, commisioned by the Duke of Aveiro in the 1750s, which later entered the Portuguese royal collections. Part of the set is displayed at the Ancient Art Museum in Lisbon (MNAA 1181Our, 1182Our e 1183Our)
