Additional Information
Provenance: The king "Cabinets Set" at the Palace of Saint-Cloud. Stamp marked and dated 1845. Saint-Cloud Palace mark.
During the July Monarchy, King Louis-Philippe I supresses the Great Dinner Set, establishing instead five new types of sets whose richness of decoration identifies its recipient: the Cabinets Set, the Officials Set, the Balls Set, the Princes Set and the Ceremonial Set. The first four feature the king's cypher in blue, in red or in gold, but without polychrome decoration, while the ceremonial sets were produced in a combination of colours.
