Ming Dynasty, 16th century
Modelled as a standing screen, with a high-relief representation of 'Kui Xing' on one side, depicted in a characteristic pose, holding a brush and surrounded by constellations, clouds, flames, and precious objects painted in cobalt blue on the background. The reverse side features a receptacle with three openings and is decorated in blue and white with 'qilin' and artemisia leaf.
With two decorative supports on each side.

A piece of similar shape but with Famille Verte enamels and different motifs is in the collection of the British Museum and published in the book 'Ming Ceramics In The British Museum' (p. 263).
