A Portuguese flintlock sporting gun, by Xavier dos Reis, mid 18th century.
Muzzle loading, maker´s mark of Xavier Reis, Master gunsmith of the Arsenal Real de Lisboa until 1757. Portuguese lock signed at the frizzen by Joaquim António da Silva and dated 1791 and maker´s mark for the same gunsmith of the Arsenal Real de Lisboa. Silver mounts and JFR monogram to the trigger-guard.
