Description

Paris 1783, by J.P. CHARPENAT
French silver of flower and fruit garlands, medallions, ribbons and architectural elements openwork decoration centred by a blank cartouche supported by cherubs. Central obelisk shaped pommel, surmounted by sphere with ornamentation with flower garlands foliage, ribbons and beading, marked "Charge", "Décharge", "Jurande, 1783". Blue glass liners

Additional Information

CHARPENAT was the maker of the famous Queen Marie-Antoinette "nécessaire" as well as of its replica, ordered by the Queen in 1791 as a gift to her sister Marie-Christine
These salt cellars are a similar to the vinegar cruet made by Jean-Pierre Charpenat today at and the Louvre Museum in Paris.
