Additional Information

This pair of salt cellars reflects the taste of 19th century elites for the style Louis XVI, and particularly for the "goût Marie-Antoinette", hence rejecting the modern styles. These pieces retake the shape of the famous "breast cup", created in 1787 by sculptor Louis-Simon BOIZOT (1743-1809) and by painter Jean-Jacques LAGRENÉE (1739-1821) for the dairy at Rambouillet, in the Classical inspired taste fashionable at the time.
