Launched at the end of the reign of Louis XVI under the impetus of Queen Marie-Antoinette following the discovery of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the so-called "Greek" taste, which prefigures the so-called "Return from Egypt" style, is characterised by the extreme rarity of its production, always of extreme luxury and intended for the high Parisian aristocracy.
