Iron, lined with red-lacquered wood
Of traditional form (abumi), with bulbous front panel (hatomune) and suspension buckle (sasuga) moulded as an extension of the central frieze
The exterior with continuous decoration in gold, composed of flowers and foliage developed over a dense ground of karakusa-type foliate scrolls
The interiors entirely lined in plain red lacquer
Japan, Edo period, 18th century
