Description

Chinese export porcelain
Moulded in the form of inverted helmets, with wide spouts, handles terminating in scrolls and tall feet
Decorated with Famille Verte enamels, depicting a bird perched on a flowering camellia bush
Spouts moulded with polychrome bearded mask in relief
Base of the body decorated with cut-out petals on a dotted green ground, with flowers and scrollwork
Kangxi period (1662-1722)

Height: 27 cm


Additional Information

The form of these ewers follows European silver models widely used at the end of the 17th century. Ceramic versions were also produced in Delft and Rouen faience at the end of the 17th and beginning of the 18th century.
