Description

Chinese export porcelain. Each candlestick modelled in the form of a small dog, with elongated body and short legs, head raised, open mouth, painted eyes, moulded ears and short tail against the body. Polychrome decoration with Famille Rose, rouge-de-fer, green and gilt enamels, the body filled with small scattered floral motifs on a white ground, with heads, paws and tails in rouge-de-fer. Cylindrical bobèche applied on the back, with everted rim, decorated with small floral motifs in continuity with the body ornamentation. Guangxu period (1875–1908)
