French silver
Maker Denis Garreau with allegory to Faithfull Love, the body decorated with three depictions of Eros, each carrying a quiver over the shoulder, riding a hunting dog and holding a flaming torch, with pierced frieze surmounted by laurel leaves bands.
Pine cone shaped lid pommel and stylised swan head handles.
Modern blue and colourless crystal liner
Hallmarks: Elder 1st grade, Maximum Paris warrantee, Association of Goldsmiths with letter P, master goldsmith DG and barge with two figures for Denis GARREAU master 1817

Denis GARREAU
Successor of MIGNEROT, Denis GARREAU was a Parisian goldsmith specialising in the Arts of the Table, particularly cruet sets, based at 62 rue du Temple. His stamp was engraved in 1817.
