Additional Information
Pieces from this silver tableware set were presented at the Portuguese and French Goldsmithing Exhibition, held at the Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva in 1955. In the respective catalog, they were listed as works by the goldsmith Louis-Jean-Baptiste Cheret (1760-1832). At the 1934 exhibition at the Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo, there was a sauceboat with an identical mark attributed to Louis-Cartier. It was sold at Christie's in the auction THE COLLECTION OF RITA ESPÍRITO SANTO as lot 49.
At the Leiria & Nascimento auction in 1941, and at the Porto Covo auction, all were attributed to Louis-Cartier (reg. 1779).
