Undulating circular body and foot of acanthus decoration to handles, the cover with reeded border and finely chiselled onions pommel, marked "Minerve 1er Titre"

François-Alphonse DEBAIN, registered 1847 in Paris.
His son and successor Alphonse-Édouard DEBAIN uses the same mark and takes Louis-Frédéric FLAMANT as associate, working from 1864 onwards under the name DEBAIN & FLAMANT. Between 1880-1891 the company operates as FLAMANT & FILS.
In 1883 Alphonse-Édouard's son, also Alphonse, succeeds the goldsmith Philippe BERTHIER, and will exhibit at the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle, being awarded a gold medal. A jury member at the Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle he will, for that reason, exhibit but not compete. He exhibited again at the 1901 Universal Exhibition in Glasgow and at the 1909 French Decorative Art Exhibition in Copenhagen where his products stood out. He retired in 1911
