Description

Gilt and patinated bronze, after a model by Claude Michel, known as Clodion (1738–1814)
Each candelabrum composed of a child figure in dark brown patinated bronze — on one example, a young satyr depicted with caprine legs, and on the other, a bacchant putto — standing on a fluted gilt bronze plinth decorated with a laurel frieze, on a square base with shaped corners
Each figure supports naturalistic gilt bronze branches decorated with foliage and berries, forming the candelabra arms, terminating in tulip-shaped bobèches
Each example rests on a stepped circular base, with a fluted white marble body and applied gilt bronze friezes, mouldings, and reserves
France, 19th century

Height: 85 cm
