Belgian black marble
Gilt bronze decoration of garlands, foliage elements, shells and classical mask.
Central yellow metal dial of foliage reliefs decoration and applied blue enamel plaques with Roman numerals
Surmounted by a two figure sculpture. One alluding to Classical Philosophy, holding a plaque with the names of Socrates, Plato and Aristoteles. The other to Classical Poetry, holding a plaque with the names of Homer, Pindar and Sapho. In the centre a column with books and the names Dante (1265-1321), Ludovico Arioste (1474-1533) and Torquato Tasso (1544-1595)
