Description
French porcelain. Lobed form, raised on small pierced metal feet and finished with gilt mounts to the edge. Decoration on a cobalt blue ground, with gilt frames and friezes, and complementary decoration of scrolls, foliage, and shellwork in white and grey, distributed on the sides. The domed lid features a central oval reserve painted with an allegorical scene in classical taste, depicting a seated woman beside an easel, accompanied by putti. The front presents another figurative reserve with a reclining female figure conversing with a winged cupid. Marked. 19th century
