Silver ewer and basin with Baroque decoration featuring pearl borders and relief cartouches with intricate elements. The ewer with spiralled and gadrooned body terminating in chiseled decoration simulating a shell, and caryatid-form handle. Both pieces engraved with marriage arms, possibly of João de Mesquita e Silva de Avilez (?-1735) and Joana Maria Luísa Mascarenhas Pereira (?-?), the first divided per pale with: I - Avilez, II - Mesquita, III - Silva; the second quartered with I - (?), II - Brito, III - Pereira, IV - (?). Lisbon assay mark (1727-1755) and goldsmith's mark attributable to Manuel de Couto da Veiga (1706-1722) (signs of wear, minor defects)
