In Chinese export porcelain, decorated in underglaze blue

Tureen with oval body and fluted wavy sides, decorated with floral compositions of peonies, chrysanthemums and other flowers in blue on white ground

Border with floral band in blue

Cover of shaped form, with the same painted decoration and surmounted by a handle in the form of a double serpent

Shaped stand with the same floral decoration

Additional Information

Tureens of this type, produced in China for the European market during the Kangxi and Yongzheng reigns, follow the form of French silver services and Rouen faience. Comparable examples are in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (inv. FE.20:1 to 3-1991) and the Museu Medeiros e Almeida, Lisbon.
