Additional Information

Actor amongst the most famous of his time, JEAN MARAIS was also a renowned designer and painter. He discovered ceramics on the occasion of a visit to his friend's PICASSO studio, at the Potter's city of Vallauris, before becoming an assiduous visitor to Joe Pasquali's studio to learn how to model the clay. Soon, he settles in the city, opening his first gallery in 1975. His production, original and poetic, developed a unique style that reveals the influence of his friend JEAN COCTEAU.
An example of this candlestick, of black patina, was exhibited at the Jean Marais Museum, in Vallauris, before its closing and the dispersion of its collection.
