Additional Information

The painting now offered for sale is one the studies for the canvas in exhibition at the room of the Literary acts at Mafra Palace and it has been attributed to several authors being the most consensual the attribution to the Italian painter Sebastiano Conca.
At the reserves of the National Museum of Ancient Art is kept a study similar to the present lot.
The final work differs from the studies in two aspects: the snake at Our Lady's feet, once at the studies it is represented as a multiple headed dragon, and in the composition of the angel crowd that is slightly different from the final work.
The present work differs from the one kept at the musem on the composition of Child Jesus's scepter once here only the part that stabs the head of the dragon is depicted
