On four bird feet, base with flowers and leaves, stem chiselled as a heron holding the detachable arms with three candle holders and decorated with relief and scalloped leaves
Porto assay mark (1870-1877) and José Gonçalves Russo maker's mark (1870-1886)

Additional Information

The design of this pair of candelabra is clearly inspired by Thomas Abbott bronze models. Active in Birmingham from 1830 to 1860, Abbott was one of the most important English bronze makers of the 19th century and his factory is highly regarded by the quality of the work and the originality of the designs, both Romatinc and Naturalistic.
