Additional Information
The attribution to Baltic production is based on the neoclassical vocabulary, the multi-tiered structure and the combination of gilt bronze, cut crystal and opaline glass painted with figurative motifs, features documented in several chandeliers attributed to the region. A parallel is found in a chandelier attributed to the Baltic region by Christie's, sold on 23 May 2024, lot 101, which likewise features an opaline glass medallion with mythological decoration.
The configuration of the present chandelier's structure suggests it may originally have been conceived to allow division into two wall appliques, although the current mounting does not permit such separation.
