Description

Quails in gilt metal and cloisonné enamel, with detailed plumage in vibrant tones of blue, green, red, and white, perched on square gilt bronze bases adorned with rocaille scrolls
Originally conceived as incense burners, each features an opening on the back and a lid shaped as wings
Later adapted into two-light candelabra, with arms modelled as branches supporting candle sockets decorated with floral motifs
Qing Dynasty, 18th/19th century, with later adaptations
